Shepperton Studios Announces CAPTAIN AMERICA Movie Filming Partnership

The Pinewood Production Group, parent company of Shepperton, Teddington and Pinewood Studios, has formally announced their hosting of several filming locations for Captain America: The First Avenger.

The three studio companies which operated under the Pinewood banner have housed feature films, TV dramas, commercials, pop promos, animation and photo shoots on their 34 sound stages. They are the home to Europe’s only permanently filled studio based underwater filming stage, one of Europe’s largest exterior tanks, 11 stages with interior tanks and the UK’s leading commercial media diving specialist.

In the following press release issued yesterday, Pinewood officially announced their partnership with Marvel Studios for the production of Captain America: The First Avenger:

Captain America: The First Avenger is currently filming on a number of Shepperton Studio’s stages as well as at Pinewood. The classic Marvel comic character is being brought to life by Director Joe Johnston and Producer Kevin Feige. Chris Evans plays Captain America alongside an amazing cast including Tommy Lee Jones, Samuel L. Jackson and Hugo Weaving. Paul Baker, Pinewood Group Sales Director said:

Kevin Feige [President of Production for Marvel Studios] recently said of working at Pinewood and Shepperton:

“I was at Pinewood yesterday and you walk past pictures of the set of Tim Burton’s original Batman and all the amazing work that [Richard] Donner did on Superman. Every time we’re on a new stage in Shepperton somebody tells me this is where the war room was for Dr. Strangelove. Or this is where they shot some of 2001. There’s such an amazing genre film history here and the technicians and the crews and the sets are just some of the best we’ve ever had. It’s been a pleasure.”

Captain America: The First Avenger stars Chris Evans, Hugo Weaving, Tommy Lee Jones, Stanley Tucci, Haley Atwell, Sebastian Stan, Dominic Cooper Toby Jones and Neal McDonough. The film is scheduled for theatrical release on July 22nd, 2011.
