Rising Sun Promises "Complex, Photo-real Effects" for GREEN LANTERN

The Australian special effects company has just been tapped to begin work on Warner Bros' superhero adaptation, which is currently in post production.

Rising Sun Pictures, based in Adelaide, Australia, has just announced their involvement with the highly anticipated blockbuster Green Lantern. Warner Bros contacted the effects company and has asked them to deliver key CG sequences for the Martin Campbell directed film. Michael Taylor, CEO of Rising Sun, has confirmed the studio will work alongside Sony ImageWorks to finalize the large amounts of computer generated effects necessary to bring the characters and landscapes of Green Lantern to life.

“Once again the quality of work done here in South Australia has resulted in a tent-pole picture choosing Rising Sun from a field of international competitors.

“Our ability to deliver complex, photo-real effects work on tight turnarounds continues to place Rising Sun as one of the most sought after vendors in the industry”.

Warner Bros had planned for principal photography and post production work on Green Lantern to take place in Australia, before they ultimately chose to accept the attractive tax-incentives of New Orleans, Louisiana. Rising Sun Pictures, which closed its Sydney office in late 2009 - due to the unexpected lack of big offshore productions, is currently working on Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2.

Green Lantern is scheduled to hit 2D and 3D theaters June 17th, 2011.

Anything less that photo-realistic would look like a cartoon, and kill this film.

I don't think there's anything to worry about, based on what we've heard about the snippet shown from Comic Con, the constructs look "exactly like you'd expect", or something to that effect.

If I'm not mistaken... Rising Sun Pictures was the one in charge on the effects of X-men Origins: Wolverine?

The few constructs they did show at comic con looked perfect. BUT, Tomar Re looked very cartoony. I guess we just have to wait until Harry Potter to see what it is really going to look like.

Oh, I'm not worried at all. Bars have been set at this point that we should never have a worry, since if you f**k up a comic book movie at this point, you'll never get one again. The budgets, scriptings, effects and casting opportunities are all there.

I do have to disagree with this a little bit. I mean I think they do have to be good, but, if the execution by Campbell and cast is great, I think that some (not a lot mind you) visual faux pas can be accepted.
