George Lucas will be re-releasing all six films in the STAR WARS movie franchise to theaters in 2012; once they have all been converted to digital 3D.
As of 2008, the STAR WARS film franchise has garnered over $5.5 billion in box office revenue. Although it's been over five years since a STAR WARS movie has appeared in theaters, the STAR WARS Expanded Universe, comprised of cartoons, novels, comics and video games, continues to gain popularity with new and old fans alike.
Come 2012, these fans will get the chance to revisit their favorite film franchise when STAR WARS returns to theaters - this time in 3D. According to The LA Times Hero Complex:
'Part One, “The Phantom Menace,” would be first out of star-dock in the early months of 2012. After that, each of the films would be released in order at the same time each consecutive year, depending on how well the first re-release does.
"Each conversion takes at least a year to complete, with Lucas personally overseeing the process to make sure each one is as perfected as possible."

You know you've run out of stuff to do when you talk more about BSG or your latest D&D campaign than Star Wars
