"Minor" Casting News for GREEN LANTERN

EXCLUSIVE: Several actors have been revealed who portray the childhood counterparts to main cast members in the superhero film Green Lantern; which has already entered post production in Los Angeles, California.

Though many superhero movies only gloss over their respective hero's childhood experiences, Martin Campbell's space adventure Green Lantern is not one of them. According to the mythology of the character, it would be a grave misstep to exclude these parts of the story since they greatly influence the personality of the film's hero. How so? All you have to do is turn to one of the Green Lantern origin comics and see for yourself (panel included below).

Months ago it was revealed that 10-year old actor Gattlin Griffith* had been cast in Green Lantern, though his exact role in the film could not be discovered. Today I've learned he will in fact be portraying the young counterpart to Ryan Reynold's Hal Jordan; a.k.a Green Lantern. Jenna Craig* landed the role of 8-year old Carol Ferris (portrayed as a adult by Blake Lively), who's childhood is integrally tied to the Jordan family.

The latest additions - or rather, updates - are Brock Kaufman as young Jack Jordan, Clay Moncure** as young Jim Jordan and John Kepper as young Hector Hammond; played as adults by Mike Doyle, Nick Jandl and Peter Sarsgaard respectively. The scenes where these actors appear take place in 1993 during the film's timeline; the majority of which revolve around the fictitious Ferris Air headquarters in Coast City.

Green Lantern is currently in post production, and is scheduled to hit theaters June 17th, 2011.

dun dun DUUUUUN BLAM!

Also, nice to know the timeframe of the film. If they were kids in '93 then it shouldn't take place "in the near future" but in the present.

Is there any idea of the run time they're shooting for? It sounds like they are filling this movie with a lot of great content and have almost enough for two movies already. Big Grin This definitely sounds like it will be an epic in the real, non-internet sense of the word.

Now who do you think will voice members of the Green Lantern Corps? The trailer will be out in two months and still no reports or "rumors" the voice actors for Kilowog and Tomar-Ra and others. I'm hoping Ron Perlman for either.

Ron Perlman would be too deep for Tomar-Re, but he'd be a decent Kilowog.

My only regret is having to wait until November 19 to see the trailer for the Green Lantern movie on the copies of the Harry Potter movie. Sad
