Armie Hammer: The Man Who Almost Played Batman Talks About JUSTICE LEAGUE: MORTAL

Justice League: Mortal couldn't quite get off the ground, even though casting and conceptual work were in full swing. Here's what actor Armie Hammer, who was very close to portraying Bruce Wayne/Batman on film, has to say about the project.

Director George Millar was set to usher Superman, Batman, The Flash, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, Aquaman and the Martian Manhunter into the DC film universe together with Justice League: Mortal. Production was about to being in Australia in preparation for a summer 2011 theatrical release. But it never came to pass. Armie Hammer, who can now be seen in David Fincher's The Social Network, was cast as Bruce Wayne and his alter ego, The Batman.

During a recent interview while on The Social Network press circut, Hammer spoke with SlashFilm.com and shared his thoughts on why JL:M would have been a unique and interesting take on the superhero team mythos, and how far along production had gotten before the studio put the kibosh on the project:

I really wish the people involved with this would stop talking about it. I have a slight obsession with unproduced/unreleased movies (Superman Lives/Eric Stoltz in BTTF/Roger Corman's Fantastic Four), and stuff like this doesn't help, haha! It bugs the piss out of me that I haven't been able to find anything from this JL movie. Not a storyboard, not a costume design, not a script...

"We saw all the pre-vis stuff... he had a room that hadfloor to ceiling story boards, depictions of entire movie. You could walk around the entire room, it could take about an hour, but you get the entire movie just by walking around. He had it all figured out."

So...

WHERE are these storyboards? WHAT about the design of the suits? Confused

Why nobody found these storyboards? Where's Poni at this hour? Mr Green
