The actress, remembered for her portrayal of Lois Lane in the 90s series Lois & Clark, makes her return to the Superman franchise in Smallville's final season.
Smallville is a show that has been very successful at bringing in famous stars from previous Superman franchises. Christopher Reeves' guest appearance has been the most well remembered, but Margot Kidder, Terence Stamp, Helen Slater, Marc McClure, and Dean Cain have also taken up small roles. Now, the CW's flagship show has done it again!
Former TV Lois Lane, Teri Hatcher, is scheduled to guest star in the eighth episode of the new season as Ella Lane; ironically, mother to the current Lois Lane (Erica Durance). In the episode, titled "Abandoned," Lois will discover old videotapes of her deceased mother. Though it is still unclear if her role will bring her deceased character face-to-face with the cast of Smallville, any comic book reader can tell you that "death" is not always the end.
Michael Ausiello had this to say about the news, "The fact that the Desperate Housewives star was game to do this speaks volumes about her appreciation for that role (and the role it played in her future career)."
Before she was known for being a Desperate Housewife, she was known as Daily Planet reporter and love interest to Superman Lois Lane on the hit ABC series Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman. Co-starring in the series for four years turned out to be her breakout role, and ushered the actress into the Hollywood limelight. Her former leading man, Dean Cain (a.k.a. Superman), played Dr. Curtis Knox in season seven of Smallville..
