Jeremy Renner Offered the Lead Role in THE BOURNE LEGACY

The star of the Academy Award winning film The Hurt Locker and next summer's The Avengers has officially been offered the lead role in Universal's next installation of Bourne films.
Tony Gilroy -- who also wrote the screenplays for the first three Bourne films --will direct The Bourne Legacy. The fourth film will apparently not utilize any story elements from Eric Lustbader’s novel of the same name; rather it will continue the same timeline from the first three films and serve to expand the franchise mythology by focusing on a character other than Jason Bourne.
Deadline.com reports that Jeremy Renner, who was one of many actors linked to the blockbuster franchise's next film, has been offered the lead role and will more than likely sign on quickly.

Though details of the story are sparse, Renner's role will supposedly be 'an operative from a covert government program that is even more dangerous than the Treadstone brainwashing program that hatched Bourne.'
Renner can next be seen as the comic book character Clint Barton AKA Hawkeye in Marvel's Thor on May 6, followed by an extended role in the company's ensemble superhero film The Avengers in 2012. Universal Pictures is targeting an August 3, 2012 theatrical release for The Bourne Legacy.

I would not mind at all if he is chosen. He would make a great Bourne.

I think he's insinuating that you can't get more dangerous than Bourne
