Latest Actresses Linked to SUPERMAN Film May Portray Villainous Kryptonian Ursa
Published: February 5, 2011 - 7:16am
One of three Kryptonians banished to the Negative Zone, Ursa has frequented Superman comics of late and was one of the main antagonists in the 1980 sequel film Superman II.

Last Sunday, movie fans were surprised by a last minute press release from Warner Bros confirming Tudors actor Henry Cavill as the next Man of Steel. Cavill beat out Matthew Bomer (White Collar), Matthew Goode (Watchmen), Joe Manganiello (True Blood), Armie Hammer (The Social Network) and relative newcomer Colin O’Donoghue (The Rite) for the role of Clark Kent in the upcoming reboot being helmed by Zack Snyder (Sucker Punch).
Several days ago it was reported that actresses Alice Eve, Diane Kruger and Rosamund Pike are competing for a lead role in the film that is not Lois, but has yet to be revealed. No more details have been offered, but with the first casting announcement coming only last Sunday -- as a surprise to everyone -- it's only a matter of time before the studio reveals more regarding the part.
News site LatinoReview.com may have beat them to the punch, though, as last night they revealed a tip from a "most trusted reliable source" who says the character these three stars are vying for is named Ursa. The villainous Kryptonian appeared in both Superman: The Movie and Superman II, played by British actress Sarah Douglas, accompanying the other two antagonists General Zod and Non.
The untitled titled Superman film is scheduled to begin production this spring in preparation for a December 2012 theatrical release.

Is there a law I don't know about that only allows the use of the same four villains (Lex, Zod, Non, Ursa) for all Superman movies?

Well, if LatinoReview is reporting it, it has to be true...
I think Snyder is a little smarter than that...then to keep rehashing villains.

no no no no no... I highly doubt Snyder would agree to rehash old stuff. Rebooting Superman= GOOD. Refilming Superman 2= BAD. We know the story. Lets give Brainiac a chance. Darkseid... Cadmus... hell- Shazam, ANYONE else. Let's just make this thing original. Superman isn't going to earn any new fans if we just remake the same cr@p.
I suppose the trio could be part of a flashback. I'm fine with that. Totally. That'd actually be really f'n sweet... but not if they take up more than 10% of the movie. The main villain needs to be someone more dangerous than some paramilitery jerks from Krypton. (don't misunderstand me, I like Zod, but he's not really what we need)

Whew! Cross, if you hadn't put that parantheseed sentence as disclaimer, I was going to challenge that second to last sentence. They are good match for Supes! It just that, as you and others have already stated, they've been done! Its time for Brainiac or Darkseid. Something or somone that will ruin Clark's day, and something or someone that Supes can punch.

I think including the Kryptonian criminals in a minor capacity would be awesome at least

everythign is a rumour at this minute, look at TDKR, we were all told sources say this that and the other and we were all convinced the bad guy was going to be Hugo Strange, we all know how that turned out don't we.
Wait and see, and all will be revealed in due course, and again Nolan is attached in a big role so this will have a different feel to what we have seen before, we also have Synder, his work on 300 and Watchmen should encourage people to believe in him.
Hate it when Fan boys get their hate on before an image has even been teased.
