MORTAL KOMBAT & MORTAL KOMBAT: ANNIHILATION Blu-Rays to Release with Upcoming Game

Audiences will be able to see movie version of Scorpion's spear hurtling through the air in HD as the 15 year old film and its sequel make it to the new format just in time for the release of the newest game in the classic fighting series.

Gamers will get to crunch bones with Mortal Kombat on the Xbox 360 and PS3 on April 19, 2011. It features HD graphics, roughly 26 playable characters, brutal X-ray Attacks, and a return to fighting on a modified 2D plane. This game has been described as a return to the series' roots.
With the air of nostalgia behind its latest interactive release, Warner Brothers has also released the news that the 1995 film Mortal Kombat and its sequel Annihilation will debut on Blu-ray players on the same day. With a beginning $19.99 SRP, the company will only be transferring special features that were on previous DVD Releases with an extra bonus of an HD Trailer for the new game. PS3 owners will have the exclusive chance to download a Jade character costume with an included voucher.
The original film followed Johnny Cage, Sonia Blade, Liu Kang, and others as they fought their way through the mysterious Netherrealm in a tournament held by the Elder Gods to reduce invasions between the realms. With each match, they face undead ninjas and four armed monstrosities. Liu Kang must find the power within to confront the soul collecting sorcerer Shang Tsung and FINISH HIM!
The sequel introduced a myriad of new characters and pitted Liu Kang angains the emperor Shao Kahn as he attempts to take over Earthrealm. Both films were known for their fighting sequences and techno soundtrack.
