47 Ronin is Universal Pictures' fantasy-adventure film depicting a fictional account of forty-seven samurai in 18th-century Japan who avenge the murder of their master.

Kai (Reeves), an outcast who joins Oishi (Hiroyuki Sanada ), the leader of the 47 Ronin. Together they seek vengeance upon the treacherous overlord who killed their master and banished their kind. To restore honor to their homeland, the warriors embark upon a quest that challenges them with a series of trials that would destroy ordinary warriors.
Inspired by styles as diverse as Miyazaki and Hokusai, Rinsch will bring to life the stunning landscapes and enormous battles that will display the timeless Ronin story to global audiences in a way that's never been seen before.
47 Ronin is directed by Carl Erik Rinsch and stars Keanu Reeves alongside an ensemble of Japanese actors including Hiroyuki Sanada, Kou Shibasaki, Tadanobu Asano, Rinko Kikuchi and Jin Akanishi.
The film was originally slated for a theatrical release this November, but has since undergone changes that have delayed it's debut. It's now been revealed that Universal Pictures has moved its release date again from February to December 25th, 2013. This will purportedly help the production team accommodate extensive, post production visual effects work including 3D conversion. Re-shoots are also planned to take plan in the coming months.
