Early AMAZING SPIDER-MAN Concept Art Features Rhys Ifans as the Villainous Lizard

The upcoming relaunch of the Spider-Man film franchise, which stars Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone, is directed by Marc Webb and scheduled for theatrical release in 2012.

The Amazing Spider-Man, which is now in production and is being shot entirely in 3D, will be released on July 3rd, 2012. The film stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Denis Leary, Campbell Scott, Irrfan Khan, Martin Sheen, and Sally Field. The film is directed by Marc Webb from a screenplay by James Vanderbilt and Alvin Sargent and Steve Kloves based on the Marvel Comic Book by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. Laura Ziskin, Avi Arad, and Matt Tolmach are producing the Marvel Entertainment production for Columbia Pictures.
The following image offers a look at an early transformation version of Dr. Curt Connors (Rhys Ifans) becoming The Lizard. As the film progresses, Connors becomes even more reptilian with an elongated snout and prehensile tongue:

UUUUUUGH... I am hoping for so much more.. I know this is an early transformation but come on.. Guess it was to much of a vain hope to hope for the McFarlane Lizard. Well at least at Comic Con we had video of it with a snout.
