Dan Aykroyd Has Revived GHOSTBUSTERS 3...Again

Dan Aykroyd recently revealed to VanityFair that Ghostbusters 3 is back on track and even Bill Murray is on board once again.

After numerous back and forths, including Murray not thinking the film would be a good idea after Ghostbusters 3 scribes Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky worked on the critically panned Year One, it looks like everything is OK once more and the movie is back on track.

"I think he (Murray) was concerned that the writing on Ghostbusters 3 by Eisenberg and Stupnitsky would not be up to standard. But I can tell you firsthand, I'm working on the script now and those two wrote Bill the comic role of a lifetime, and the new Ghostbusters and the old are all well represented in it. We have a strong first draft that Harold (Ramis) and I will take back, and I'm very excited about working on it," said Aykroyd.

With Aykroyd working on the script personally and with Murray's renewed interest in the long awaited sequel, we may actually see progress on the long delayed Ghostbusters 3, along with some new blood added to the mix. Aykroyd confirmed his character feeling his age in the film's script.

"My character's eyesight is shot, I got a bad knee, a bad hip — I can't drive that caddy anymore or lift that Psychotron Accelerator anymore, it’s too heavy. We need young legs, new minds — new Ghostbusters; so I'm in essence passing the torch to the new regime, and you know what? That's totally okay with me," said Aykroyd.

I'm with Clint. But like IJ said, Aykroyd speaks with encouraging tone.

I'm all for another Ghostbusters, yes I am.

But it is very very very very very very very very bittersweet.

NO RICK MORANIS Sad :( Sad :( Sad

It's very hard to imagine a GB movie without him. The man is retired from acting, and said there is no way he is going back to acting. Unless it is some freaking miracle (buckeroos or a sense of fun nostalgia on Rick's part) it will never be a complete GB movie.

Now about those Michael Cera/Seth Rogen/Fat Kid from that and that and that movie casting rumors....

I hope this happens. It could be terrible, but I love those characters. There are so many little things throughout both movies that just kill me. Yeah, GB2 doesn't quite live up to the first one but there are so many moments that are golden, and a lot of that is Aykroyd and Ramis' writing. I'll trust them on this one.

I like both films equally, they each have great things about them. A REAL Ghostbuster fan likes the sequel.
