Church Leader Pisses Off Ozzy Using His Lyrics
Published: October 8, 2010 - 9:53am

The Westboro Baptist Church is known for protesting U.S. soldiers funerals in an effort to further purport their anti-gay message (regardless of the soldiers sexual orientation). Founder, Fred Phelps’ daughters and others from the group were on the steps of the Supreme Court Thursday and reportedly sang ‘you’re going straight to hell on your crazy train’, from Ozzy’s 1980 Blizzard of Oz hit ‘Crazy Train’. Ozzy was none too thrilled:
"I am sickened and disgusted by the use of 'Crazy Train' to promote messages of hate and evil by a 'church,'" said Ozzy

The members were there giving oral arguments in a case against them:
The father of Lance Cpl. Matthew Snyder, whose funeral attracted Westboro protesters, was awarded $5 million after suing the group and its founder Fred Phelps for emotional distress. The church appealed the ruling and the case is now going to be reviewed by the Supreme Court.
What might seem like a clear cut decision has become anything but. The group are careful to stay within the laws each state have set in regards to picketing at funerals and the Supreme Court is having a difficult time drawing the line between 1st Amendment protection and defamation.

You know it's bad when even Ozzy is offended!

I've seen these folks. His daughter is especially a nutball. They're all inbred and not too bright. I'm amazed someone hasn't opened fire on them yet. there's only about 100 of them.

Haha this is what scares me in the world, crazy people who don't know right from wrong.

This is very interesting topic. The debate isn't yet over. In certain corners of the United States of America, people still know how to take a stand against hatred motivated by ignorance. The city of Tucson, Ariz., where the terrible Safeway shooting as a result of Jared Lee Loughner occurred, will not allow Fred Phelps and the Westboro Baptist Church to come close to the mourners of the dead to harangue all of them with hate speech. The hate will be brushed aside by angels' wings - literally.
