The third installment of the Transformers series now has an official title. Production has gotten underway in Florida at the Kennedy Space Center which could also connect with the title as well.

The movie is now titled Transformers: The Dark of the Moon. The story originally broke on TFW2005 and was then confirmed by Collider. TFW2005 go clued in on the title through the listing of some upcoming movie tie-in novels, “Transformers: The Dark of the Moon – Secret of the Autobots“, “Transformers: The Dark of the Moon – Autobots Betrayed!“, and “Transformers: The Dark of the Moon: Invasion of the Decepticons” (all three novels are set to be released on May 17, 2011). This all ties in to earlier reports that the moon and something on it weigh heavily into the storyline.
The movie will deal with the space race between USSR and USA, and will feature Shockwave as the main villain. It is once again directed by Michael Bay, but this time will be in 3D.Transformers: The Dark of the Moon will be on the big screen next Summer, July 1st, 2011.

"The Dark of the Moon"? I don't get it. That's like saying The Long of the Hair or The Smelly of the Foot.

Yeah, that's just odd sounding.

It's like Transformers and the kingdom of the crystal skull. LAME.

Maybe Dark of the Moon means dingleberries. You couldn't very well call it Transformers: Dingleberries so they brainstormed and came up with Dark of the Moon.

Well, "Transformers: Dingleberries" is certainly more catchy than "Transformers: Dangling bits of Poo"

Odd title. It feels like it's missing a word or two.
At least it's not Transform3rs. Then the fourth flick could be Trans4mers. Then Trans5mers. This stuff writes itself.

Definitely not the best name they could have come up with. Even Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen's Revenge would have been better. Still lookin' forward to it though.
