Sinister, which hit theaters last October and is not available to own on Blu-ray and DVD, starred Ethan Hawke as a true crime novelist who discovers a box of disturbing home movies that plunge his family into a nightmarish experience of supernatural horror.
The film was met with financial success, garnering over $85 million off a $3 million budget, and was also well received by critics. Now it's been announced that Blumhouse Productions -- the production company behind other popular horror properties Paranormal Activity and Insidious -- is moving forward with a sequel.
Scott Derrickson and C. Robert Cargill, who wrote the first film (Derrickson also directed) are on board to develop the tentatively titled Sinister 2 along with other behind-the-scenes crew members.
At this time no story details or cast information have been made available. eOne will distribute the film under their Alliance Films banner.
