X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST Behind-the-Scenes Photo Shows a Miniturized Set

Bryan Singer returns to the director's chair of the film franchise he helped launch in the upcoming sequel to last summer's X-Men: First Class, which is scheduled for theatrical release in 2014.

'Days of Future Past' is a Marvel Comics storyline published in 1981 that deals with a dystopian, alternative future in which mutants are hunted down by government controlled robots (Sentinels) and incarcerated in internment camps. An older Kitty Pryde transfers her mind into the younger, present-day Kitty Pryde, who brings the X-Men to prevent a fatal moment in history which triggers anti-mutant hysteria.

X-Men: Days of Future Past stars James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Ellen Page, Shawn Ashmore, Anna Paquin, Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen. 20th Century Fox has scheduled X-Men: Days of Future Past for theatrical release on July 2014.

Bryan Singer (X-Men, X-Men 2, Superman Returns and Jack the Giant Slayer) will direct the film off a screenplay by Simon Kinberg (Sherlock Holmes, This Means War, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter). Production is scheduled to begin this month in Canada.

Director Singer has followed up on his recent promise to keep fans in the loop through Twitter updates by published a photo showing him alongside his production team looking over set design plans and miniaturized models: "Going through set designs at Mell's studio in Montreal"
