In his quest for total domination, Darth Sidious compiled six legendary dark side texts detailing Sith history and philosophy by Sorzus Syn, Darth Malgus, Darth Bane, Mother Talzin, Darth Plagueis, and himself. Together these documents form the Book of Sith. Over the centuries, the texts were passed among Force users who left handwritten notes and annotations in the margins, including Darth Vader, Yoda, Mace Windu, and Luke Skywalker, among others. For years the collection was the subject of legend, remaining hidden, until recently brought to light.

The Star Wars universe has a unique place in American pop culture, spawning books, comic books, licensed products, parodies and more. Many children who have yet to see the films know the story and the characters. What I find so interesting is how the Star Wars fanbase connects with The Dark Side. Who roots for Medusa when she battles Perseus? Yet, many fans find Darth Vader and the other “evil” characters just as interesting as Luke, Leia and Han Solo. There is even an organization for fans who dress as Imperial troopers and other villains from the story (The 501st Legion). So, it’s no surprise that Book of Sith follows on the heels of the successful Jedi Path.

Like its predecessor, Book of Sith details the history, practices and knowledge of The Force. The book contains notations from pivotal characters in the story. It is written by Daniel Wallace who is a popular author of several Star Wars books. His knowledge and appreciation of the cannon is deep and he is a fan favorite. He approaches the Sith not as a lesser part of The Force, but an integral part of it. Star Wars fans will appreciate the details that he brings to the story.

Book of Sith will be available May the Fourth, 2013.
