FIRST LOOK: Olga Kurkulina as Mother Russia on the Set of KICK-ASS 2
[Update] A sequel to the hit comic book based, R-rated action film in prepping to begin production with Jeff Wadlow (Never Back Down) in the director's chair. Kick Ass 2 hits theaters next summer.
Kick-Ass 2, based on the characters created by writer Mark Millar and artist John Romita Jr., follows the title character several months after the events of the last film as he tries to form a team of real life superheroes while concurrently preparing for the arrival of The Red Mist -- an enemy who has been gathering a team of supervillains.
Russian bodybuilder and fitness model Olga Kurkulina has been cast to play supervillain Mother Russia, a former member of both Spetsnaz and the KGB and Red Mist's bodyguard. Filming for Kick Ass 2 is currently underway and a photo taken on the set reveals Mother Russia in full costume:
Update: Director Jeff Wadlow recently posted the following picture to his Twitter page offering an "official" teaser of Mother Russian in costume:
Kick-Ass 2 is directed by Jeff Wadlow and features the return of Aaron Johnson, Chloe Moretz and Christopher Mintz-Plasse in their roles as Kick-Ass Hit Girl and Red Mist. They are joined by newcomers John Leguizamo, Robert Emms, Morris Chestnut, Donald Faison, Any Nyman and Jim Carrey. Nicholas Cage will reprise his role as Big Daddy, but it has yet to be revealed in what capacity. Universal Pictures will release Kick Ass 2 in theaters on June 28th, 2013.
