As Rick struggles to keep his family alive, he will discover that the overwhelming fear of the survivors can be far more dangerous than the mindless walkers roaming the earth.
AMC's Emmy Award-winning series The Walking Dead is directed by Glen Mazzara and based on the acclaimed comic book series by Robert Kirkman and Charlie Adlard. Danai Gurira, who has been tapped to play the sword-wielding survivor Michonne, offered a few details about her character's introduction in the series' third season as well as the inclusion of her two, chained up zombie "pets" that she travels with.
“They are connected to Michonne’s past.. and they're also a part of her recreation. She's very creative, resourceful and effective in how to get through. She's the quintessential survivor, you'd want her on your team.
"How [her pet zombies] are manipulated is really a manifestation of how much of a strategist she is. She cut off their arms so they can't grab her that way, she cut off their jaws so they can't bite her that way.
"The thing that Michonne realizes is that... She’s realized she’s the higher life form. So how do you make the lower life form work for you? And that's what the pets represent. She uses them as pack mules and uses them to repel other zombies."
