NICKELBACK's Chad Kroeger Engaged to Avril Lavigne

The Canadian music superstars have announced that they are engaged to be married. The shock is that most of the public weren't even aware the two singers were dating. Kroeger and Lavigne were in the middle of writing songs together for Lavigne's upcoming new record when sparks flew.

Chad Kroeger (37) proposed to Avril Lavigne (27) on August 8th with a 14-carat diamond ring. The songwriting powerhouse couple has sold a combined 34.3 millions albums and have landed 11 Top 10 Billboard hits. It is not known when the wedding takes place, but we can expect Kroeger's songwriting to impact Lavigne's upcoming new studio album. The duo had been collaborating on writing songs for the effort since meeting in February.

This will be Lavigne's second marriage after Sum 41's Deryck Whibley in 2010. The pop songstress has also recently dated Brody Jenner whereas this will be the Nickelback singer's first go at marriage.
