Warner Bros Pictures and writer/director George Miller's upcoming first installment in a planned trilogy of films that will hopefully revitalize the Mad Max franchise has begun filming in Africa with Tom Hardy, Charlize Theron and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley starring.

Mad Max: Fury Road sees Mad Max (Tom Hardy) caught up with a group of people fleeing across the Wasteland in a War Rig driven by the imperator Furiosa (Charlize Theron). A battle erupts on the road in front of them over the course of the film as they attempt to push the rig to safer terrain.

George Miller (Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome ) is spearheading the relaunch of the Mad Max film franchise, which originally starred Mel Gibson in the title role. Australian actress and model Megan Gale (I Love You Too) is the latest addition to the film's cast.
Gale was set to play Wonder Woman in director Miller's planned Justice League: Mortal film that fell through once Warner Bros saw success with Christopher Nolan's Batman film franchise.
Mad Max: Fury Road also stars Nathan Jones (Troy) as Rictus Erecetus, Nicholas Hoult (X-Men : First Class) as Nux, Keays-Byrne (Mad Max) as Immortan Joe, Josh Helman (Jack Reacher) as Silt, Jennifer Hagan (The Night We Called It A Day) as Miss Giddy, Abbey Lee Kershaw as The Dag’, Courtney Eaton as Fragile, musician iOTA as Coma-Doof Warrior with Zoe Kravitz, Riley Keough, and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley as ‘The Wives’.
Production is currently underway in Africa in preparation for a summer 2013 theatrical release.
