Warner Bros Pursuing Ben Affleck to Direct JUSTICE LEAGUE Movie

After The Dark Knight Rises director Christopher Nolan openly passed on the possibility of being involved with WB's planned superhero ensemble film, the studio is now looking at another of their in house directors for the job.
Last month, Nolan denied the recent surge of rumors that he would help work on Warner Bros' Justice League film. It's now being reported that the studio is prepping for a meeting with actor/director Ben Affleck (The Town) to discuss the project, which Will Beall (Gangster Squad) penned the screenplay for. Variety reports that he is currently the only candidate to have been sent the script to look over.

Affleck's next film, the CIA thriller Argo, is the second he both directed and starred in for Warner Bros. Justice League will feature five of DC Comics' most popular superheros: Batman, Superman, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman and The Flash (there's no word at this time if any others will appear). Word has it that if Affleck were to take the job he'd also be playing one of the main characters, following his interest in only directing pictures he stars in.
No production start date has yet to be established but Warner Bros plans to release the film in the summer of 2015, pitting it against Marvel Studios' superhero sequel The Avengers 2 -- which Joss Whedon will return to write and direct.
