A sequel to the hit comic book based, R-rated action film in prepping to begin production with Jeff Wadlow (Never Back Down) in the director's chair.

Kick-Ass 2, due for release in the summer of 2013, is directed by Jeff Wadlow (Never Back Down). Based on the follow up comic Kick-Ass 2: Balls to the Wall by writer Mark Millar and artist John Romita Jr., the story follows the title character -- several months after the events of the last film -- who is trying to form a team of "real life" superheroes, while concurrently preparing for the arrival of The Red Mist; an enemy character who has been gathering a team of "supervillains" in order to defeat both Kick-Ass and Hit-Girl.

The film will feature Aaron Johnson, Chloe Moretz and Christopher Mintz-Plasse back in their roles as Kick-Ass Hit Girl and Red Mist, respectively. They are joined by newcomer John Leguizamo who will play a bodyguard to Mintz-Plasse's crime boss. Nicholas Cage will also reprise his role as Big Daddy, but it has yet to be revealed in what capacity.
It's now been revealed that Donald Faison (Scrubs) is in final talks to play a vigilante known as Dr. Gravity, a masked character who fights alongside Kick-Ass. To the world at large he is a physics professor at Columbia University who carries a tin foil covered baseball bat he calls the "Gravity Pole."
