KICK-ASS 2 Creator Mark Millar Says Film Rating Will be NC-17

Speaking with MTV, comic creator Mark Miller commented on the sequel to the 2010 comic book adaptation saying the movie's rating will be "X or NC-17". Although he could be joking, the source material in his Kick-Ass 2 comic run is extremely violent and shocking.

When MTV caught up with actor Christopher Mintz-Plasse, who is set to return as the main antagonist in Kick-Ass 2, he mentioned that the tone of the sequel will be very dark saying, "My character in this movie is called Red Mist, and in this movie it's The Motherf****r. And there's a lot of blood and a lot of murdering." Plasse was then asked if he was looking forward to a scene in which he would (minor spoiler) -- -- -- -- murder a dog. "That's horrible! If I'm playing my character, you know, it's got to happen. But I don't know if that's going to be in the movie specifically."

Creator Mark Miller confirmed that said scene would indeed be in the film adaptation and commented on the rating of the movie saying, "Kick-Ass 2 going to be rated X. NC-17." Although it's unlikely a big budget comic to film adaptation would end up with this rating, fans of the source material shouldn't be surprised at such a claim.

A sequel to the comic book based, R-rated action film Kick-Ass was greenlit back in September of last year. The film is based on the follow up comic Kick-Ass 2: Balls to the Wall by writer Mark Millar and artist John Romita Jr. Last year, original director Matthew Vaughn left the production after it continued to be delayed and Jeff Wadlow (Never Back Down) was tapped to replace him.

Kick-Ass 2 is due for release summer 2013 and stars Aaron Johnson, Chloe Moretz and Christopher Mintz-Plasse. The film is directed by Jeff Wadlow (Never Back Down) and based on the comic of the same name by creator Mark Millar.
