DEADMAU5 Clarifies Live Show Jabs at SKRILLEX & DAVID GUETTA

Canadian DJ Deadmau5 (aka Joel Zimmerman) has followed up his recent statements in regards to fellow EDM artists simply "pressing play" during their live shows after some backlash from musicians like Swedish House Mafia's Sebastian Ingrosso.

During his cover story on Rolling Stone, Deadmau5 slammed fellow EDM artists David Guetta and Skrillex (a personal friend) by saying they don't do anything special during their lives shows. "David Guetta has two iPods and a mixer and he just plays tracks – like, 'Here's one with Akon, check it out!'," he said. "Even Skrillex isn't doing anything too technical. He has a laptop and a MIDI recorder, and he's just playing his s*** ... People are, thank God, smartening up about who does what – but there’s still button-pushers getting paid half a million. And not to say I’m not a button-pusher. I’m just pushing a lot more buttons."
Deadmau5 posted his clarification on Tumblr saying, "We all hit play, it's no secret. When it comes to 'live' performance of EDM . . . that's about the most it seems you can do anyway," He then mentioned that anyone spending an hour with the music production program Ableton would grant the ability to do what he does on stage.
"To stand up and say you're doing something special outside of a studio environment, when you're not, just plain f***in annoys me. My 'skills' and other producers' skills shine where it needs to shine . . . in the goddamned studio, and on the f***ing releases. That's what counts . . . because this whole big 'EDM' is taking over fad."
