JAY-Z & BEYONCE Trademark Their Daughter's Name for Line of Baby Cosmetics

The new parents and music superstars have filed an application with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office to protect the name of their new daughter Blue Ivy Carter. They plan to utilize their newborn's name for a line of baby products including diaper bags and cosmetics.

Beyonce gave birth to baby girl Blue Ivy Carter on January 7th in New York City. Fashion designer Joseph Mbeh submitted an application to trademark that exact name only four days later on January 11th. Mbeh claimed that he had no ill intentions and that he was planning to pitch a line of products to both Jay-Z and Beyonce. Another applicant had submitted plans for a line of fragrances on January 20th to be called 'Blue Ivy Carter Glory IV'. Both of those claims were denied by the Trademark Office as they recognized the famous name belonging to Beyonce and Jay-Z's new baby.

The real parents filed their application through Beyoncé's company BGK Trademark Holdings, as legal guardians are the only ones actually allowed to trademark their children's names. So down the line you may see Blue Ivy baby carriages, diaper bags and even a line of infant cosmetics.
