First RISE OF THE GUARDIANS Poster Features a Tough, Tattooed Santa Claus

Hugh Jackman (X-Men), Jude Law (Sherlock Holmes), Chris Pine (Star Trek), Alec Baldwin (30 Rock) and Isla Fisher (The Great Gatsby) are lending their voices to Rise of the Guardians, DreamWorks Animation's fairytale re-imagining featuring modernized versions of Santa Claus, Jack Frost and the Boogeyman.

When Pitch (Jude Law), an evil spirit akin to the Boogeyman, lays down the gauntlet to take over the world, the immortal Guardians must join forces for the first time to protect the hopes, beliefs and imagination of children all over the world.

Rise of the Guardians is an upcoming computer-animated comedy film produced by DreamWorks Animation and scheduled for 3D theatrical release on November 21st, 2012. Chris Pine is voicing Jack Frost -- a role originally given to Leonardo DiCaprio -- Hugh Jackman will be Bunnymund (the Easter Bunny), Alec Baldwin will be North (Santa Claus) and Isla Fisher is rounding out the cast as Tooth (the Tooth Fairy). Peter Ramsey is directing alongside William Joyce, the author of the novels, based off of a screenplay by Pulitzer Prize winner David Lindsay-Abaire. Guillermo del Toro and Michael Siegel are on board as executive producers. It is based on the forthcoming books by William Joyce, creator of Rolie Polie Olie and Meet the Robinsons.

I legitimately thought this was the sequel to Legend of the Guardians, that Zak Snyder owl movie, and was incredibly confused when I saw the headline and poster.

You and I both, lol. I'm like - why is a tattooed Santa on the poster for an animated Owl movie?

Yeah it's gonna be a tough one to sell because of that. Unfortunately DreamWorks had this project in development way before Snyder gave me owl laden nightmares

This sounds like a sequel to a really bad Mexican Christmas film entitled Santa Clause that was lampooned on MST3K. The demon's name is Pitch and everything.
