KILL SHAKESPEARE Launches VOLUME 2: THE BLAST OF WAR & Live-Action Stage Show
Published: November 8, 2011 - 9:17am

KILL SHAKESPEARE VOLUME 2: THE BLAST OF WAR, written by Conor McCreery, Anthony Del Col with art by Andy Belanger, collects issues seven through twelve of the Harvey- and Shuster Award- nominated series and is released in bookstores November 22nd, 2011.
This collection also features a bonus story “Here Never Shines the Sun” written by Tom Waltz (A-Team, Silent Hill) and drawn by Will Sliney (Star Wars, Farscape) as well as pin-ups and cover art exclusive to the collection. While it’s early, the second trade has already sparked some attention – the Washington Post read the finale of the series and immediately named it one of the “Five Comics That We’d Like to See on our Screens.”
In conjunction with the release of Volume 2 comes the debut of KILL SHAKESPEARE the stage show this month. Toronto’s Soulpepper Theatre – one of the country’s top theatre groups - will be performing an adaptation of the series live on November 26th (8pm) and 27th (4:30pm) at the Young Centre for the Performing Arts in Toronto’s Distillery District. The show is part of a festival that is celebrating the 400th anniversary of the debut of Shakespeare’s great work The Tempest as well as the same anniversary of the first printing of the King James Bible.
The play will provide the audience with a never-before seen mix of comic art, performance and music to tell the Kill Shakespeare saga in a way that will delight both theatre and comic “geeks”. And for our friends outside of Toronto, or even Canada, don’t fret – we’ve been contacted by several other theatres who want to bring Kill Shakespeare to their communities.
