Ridley Scott Says Next BLADE RUNNER Film Most Likely a Sequel But No Harrison Ford

The director, who just recently wrapped up filming on Prometheus, is moving forward quickly on the project and is in search of a writer to assist him with the screenplay.

In an interview with The Wall Street Journal's Speakeasy, Scott said the project is “liable to be a sequel.” Back in March, Warner Bros. announced they had acquired the rights to Blade Runner but were unclear in what direction it might go.

Many fans have stated they wished to see where Harrison Ford's character Rick Deckard ended up. It looks like that won't be the case though as Scott said it wouldn't include any of the past cast and when asked directly about Ford, he stated “No, not really.” The 74 year old, seen here on set with Ford, did assure that significant progress is being made:

“I think I’m close to finding a writer that might be able to help me deliver,” Scott says, “we’re quite a long way in, actually.”

Released by Warner Bros. almost 30 years ago, "Blade Runner" was adapted by Hampton Fancher and David Peoples from Philip K. Dick's novel “Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?" and directed by Ridley Scott following his landmark “Alien.” The film was nominated for two Academy Awards (Best Visual Effects, and Best Art Direction).
