STAR WARS: EPISODE 1 THE PHANTOM MENACE 3D Theatrical Trailer

The theatrical re-release of the first in the new trilogy of Star Wars films has been revealed with a trailer set to debut before The Three Musketeers on October 21st. The release date for Episode I in 3D is February 10th, 2012.

Obi-Wan Kenobi (Ewan McGregor) is a young apprentice Jedi knight under the tutelage of Qui-Gon Jinn (Liam Neeson); Anakin Skywalker (Jake Lloyd), who will later father Luke Skywalker and become known as Darth Vader, is just a nine-year-old boy. When the Trade Federation cuts off all routes to the planet Naboo, Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan are assigned to settle the matter, but when they arrive on Naboo they are brought to Amidala (Natalie Portman), the Naboo queen, by a friendly but opportunistic Gungan named Jar Jar. Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan plan to escort Amidala to a meeting of Republic leaders in Coruscant, but trouble with their spacecraft strands them on the planet Tatooine, where Qui-Gon meets Anakin, the slave of a scrap dealer.

Qui-Gon is soon convinced that the boy could be the leader the Jedis have been searching for, and he begins bargaining for his freedom and teaching the boy the lessons of the Force. The group must now find a way of getting to Coruscant and to finally solve this trade dispute, but there is someone else hiding in the shadows: the evil Sith, ancient enemies of the Jedi, have returned.

Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace is a science fantasy film written and directed by George Lucas. The release of the film on May 19, 1999 came almost 16 years after the release of the last film in the series, Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi, and was accompanied by extensive media coverage and great anticipation. Despite mixed reviews by critics and fans, it grossed $924.3 million worldwide, making it the highest-grossing film of the entire Star Wars saga unadjusted for inflation. It was the fourth film to be released in the STAR WARS saga, and the first in terms of internal chronology. The film was re-released in the Blu-ray format in September of 2011 and will hit theaters with 3D conversion on February 10th, 2012.
