INXS Reveal New Lead Singer & Release Track 'Tiny Summer'
Published: September 26, 2011 - 8:41am
Ciaran Gribbin has been announced as the Australian rock band's next vocalist two years after singing 'Mystify' at a party with the man who wrote the hit song.
The 35-year-old Irish singer was at a friend's party singing 'Mystify' on a balcony when he met INXS member Andrew Farriss and now two years later he finds himself preparing to hit the road this November for a string of shows as the group's new front man. "In a way I'm slightly nervous, and in another way I'm unbelievably excited. It's a wonderful, proud moment for me. It's a real feeling of achievement to have a band of INXS' stature believe in me as a performer and a singer," said Gribbin. "It's genuine dream-come-true, fairytale stuff for me. I'm still waking up in the morning here in Australia going, 'How did I get here?'"

"We're just really enjoying being creative and seeing where that leads. We're experimenting with a whole range of things; we actually tried out an idea for a song the other day that's probably the most crazy, off-the-wall thing I've ever done in my life. completely radical. And that's the most important thing, to really try out different things and find out what we can do together."
INXS' former vocalist was JD Fortune, a singer who joined the band after winning the reality TV show Rock Star. Fortune has since vacated the group and Gribbin has filled that void once more for the third time. Gribbin's music resume showcases his abilities as a song writer, as he's been nominated for a Grammy in 2010 for penning the Madonna song 'Celebration'. He's sang back up vocals on the Snow Patrol album 'Eyes Open' and wrote music for the upcoming film Killing Bono.
"I've been very fortunate. I've worked hard and... grown in confidence, grown in ability. The last four years have been an amazing journey for me. But without a doubt, hand on heart, the most amazing part of my musical journey is about to begin (with INXS). I know that as a fact. I feel in some way like I've really arrived now."
