New GREEN LANTERN Promo Images Show Ryan Reynolds in Full CG Costume

Warner Brothers has released three new high resolution images of Ryan Reynolds as Green Lantern with fully-realized special effects applied.

Green Lantern

In a universe as vast as it is mysterious, a small but powerful force has existed for centuries. Protectors of peace and justice, they are called the Green Lantern Corps. A brotherhood of warriors sworn to keep intergalactic order, each Green Lantern wears a ring that grants him superpowers. But when a new enemy called Parallax threatens to destroy the balance of power in the Universe, their fate and the fate of Earth lie in the hands of their newest recruit, the first human ever selected: Hal Jordan.

Hal is a gifted and cocky test pilot, but the Green Lanterns have little respect for humans, who have never harnessed the infinite powers of the ring before. But Hal is clearly the missing piece to the puzzle, and along with his determination and willpower, he has one thing no member of the Corps has ever had: humanity. With the encouragement of fellow pilot and childhood sweetheart Carol Ferris (Blake Lively), if Hal can quickly master his new powers and find the courage to overcome his fears, he may prove to be not only the key to defeating Parallax…he will become the greatest Green Lantern of all.

I like the look of it, lets face it this is much better than spandex or a green leather/rubber suit

Hulk feet Laughing out loud I like that they really went with the idea of a CGI suit and did something completely unique.

Skin tight suit that compresses your junk... gotta be fearless to wear that

Nice to have some full body shots!

Though I definitely prefer the version on the left:
Old HalNew Hal

It looks more like the comic version to me, simpler, not as "busy".

Poni, do you know if the suit changes throughout the movie? Every photo that i see the mask looks different than the actual footage being shown.

I noticed that the footage where Hal first comes to Oa, that his outfit has the GL badge and they are not going with the "White Circle" aspect of the story. Can these photos be his actual uniform, whereas the footage we have seen in the wondercon footage is a training outfit?

I think it's the difference between promo material and actual footage.

Oh, also, I think this one's probably the best of the bunch:

GL

I'm not sure if we've seen it before and I think the suit looks best in it.

What John said. Promo materials have the capability of looking a lot better than CG in motion. This is the perfect example.

See, I actually prefer the CG, the green and black aren't well defined in the renders and the light seeping through the cracks just looks too busy and distracting. They need to downplay the seams, if they're taking any hints from initial negative feedback at all.

Side note, they really should have used the first one for the first Entertainment Weekly cover.

I was defining "epic" in the first quote... which is why it had quotes around it. Wink Context man! CONTEXT! Tongue

I prefer all of these to any past photos. These actually (finally) look like they have thickness, depth and weight. Like the ring has created an actual layer of something over his body as opposed to previous photos which looked more like the construct was simply adding texture over his body.

I like the costume in the movie more than the promo stuff, but i definitely like the mask in the promo stuff more.
The promo art where it is a straight on shot of hal flying trough the GL Emblem (the one i used for the iPad wallpaper) is my favorite version of the mask. That thing looks awesome.

Either way, the costume looks like green lantern and am glad it's not Jack Black in pajamas.

I'm really digging these! The suit looks a lot better with a green/black color scheme than green/dark green.

I thought it was weird at first but if Tomar Re doesn't have shoes, why should Hal? From a design standpoint it makes sense to me.

I should also point out that I don't think these images qualify as "heroic; majestic or impressively great", I'm with Pietro on this one, it doesn't match the definition of "epic". But everyone's entitled to their opinion Smile and epic seems to be the buzz word lately for "I appreciate this".

I think the word epic should be only used to describe something as big in scope and not how great something look. This word is the most overused word on the internet today to describe something.

GL movie looks epic but this picture is not epic. It looks awesome.

I think we should not talk bout the suit anymore. I am just glad that they finally got the look done, and I am overall impressed. I love the look and can't wait to see [crap] go down:) As long as the suit ain't as shitty as the new Spiderman one then it's all good. I must say that Cap and GLs suits are my favs for 2011.

It was explained earlier. The promos are usually different than the finalized movie versions.

@John, i like that version, just wish the mask didn't have that maxi-pad look. Your mask is better.

My mask is also a physical object glued to my face, I'd imagine there are challenges when it's literally just "painted on" Tongue
