Published: April 3, 2011 - 11:16am
Directed by Tarsem Singh, Immortals also stars Henry Cavill (The Tudors), Stephen Dorff (Public Enemies), Freida Pinto (Slumdog Millionaire), Luke Evans (Robin Hood), Kellan Lutz (Twilight series) with John Hurt (Hellboy), and Mickey Rourke (Iron Man 2) and hits theaters on November 11th, 2011.

Visionary director Tarsem Singh (The Cell, The Fall) and producers Gianni Nunnari (300), Mark Canton (300) and Ryan Kavanaugh (The Fighter) unleash an epic tale of treachery, vengeance and destiny in Immortals, a stylish and spectacular 3-D adventure. As a power-mad king razes ancient Greece in search of a legendary weapon, a heroic young villager rises up against him in a thrilling quest as timeless as it is powerful.
The brutal and bloodthirsty King Hyperion (Mickey Rourke) and his murderous Heraklion army are rampaging across Greece in search of the long lost Bow of Epirus. With the invincible Bow, the king will be able to overthrow the Gods of Olympus and become the undisputed master of his world. With ruthless efficiency, Hyperion and his legions destroy everything in their wake, and it seems nothing will stop the evil king’s mission.
As village after village is obliterated, a stonemason named Theseus (Henry Cavill) vows to avenge the death of his mother in one of Hyperion’s raids. When Theseus meets the Sybelline Oracle, Phaedra (Freida Pinto), her disturbing visions of the young man’s future convince her that he is the key to stopping the destruction. With her help, Theseus assembles a small band of followers and embraces his destiny in a final desperate battle for the future of humanity.
What drew you to play the part of Athena?
"I actually didn't audition for this part, Tarsem [Singh] offered me the part. I was a bit floored and obviously nervous approaching this opportunity. For me I was really excited because I'm really interested in Greek mythology and -- growing up mom read Greek mythology to my sister and I -- to go back, revisit the material and learn about Athena.. the archetypes and how the goddesses are still relevant to today it was really interesting to me."
Athena is not just the Goddess of Wisdom but also War and Battle Strategy, so do you have any action scenes in the film?
"I do actually, there's a fat action sequence towards the end of the film so I was training with the stunt department several hours a day in martial arts and scythe fighting."

Would you consider that the most difficult part you had to film?
"It was the most difficult [to] rehearsing, definitely. There were so many stunts, Henry [Cavill] had so many more than I."
Does Athena get to interact with the Immortals at all or is she stuck on Olympus the whole time?
"She comes doen to Earth too, yeah. We come down to intervene to help Henry's character, to help Theseus. It's against Zeus' will.. Athena's father's will."
You play Erica in the delayed Red Dawn remake, how does your character compare to the original played by Leah Thompson?
"They changed that quite a lot, my character ends up starting in the beginning of the film [whereas] in the original she doesn't come in till later on. She's also the girlfriend of Josh Peck's character.. and there were some changes."

In the poster sure, I agree with Sam. But in that first pic, is like "holy [crap], what is that? please don't kill me" kind of ugly.

Well everyone is allowed to have their off days, plus I doubt any other actress besides Blake Lively goes out to impress at the Con events. I think Lucas is hella cute in the majority of pics/vids I've seen her

Good Stuff Kim! Looking forward to Immortals, but the tweaks in Red Dawn have me a little concerned.
