Ryan Reynolds Reacts to Criticisms of DEADPOOL Inactivity and GREEN LANTERN CGI
Published: March 3, 2011 - 4:03pm
The very busy actor has a few choice words for the negativity expressed by some on the first Green Lantern trailer and notes he is still interested in a Deadpool movie.
Ryan Reynolds has a lot on his plate these days; he is currently filming Safe House with Denzel Washington and will then do R.I.P.D with Zach Galifianakis. Throw in voice work for animated movies and video games along with the publicity tours that are tied into these projects and he is fairly locked in for the next year or so. A lot can happen in a year: More enticing projects come along and Warner Bros will certainly want to gear up a sequel to Green Lantern as soon as opening weekend if box office is strong.
Many fans believe that Reynolds has essentially pulled away from Deadpool which is a project loaded with issues (Hard R rating for comic, Star can't show his face, Big budget for unproven character) that will make it tough to get off the ground regardless of who stars. The actor says he is interested though he is still keeping his distance.

“Deadpool’s still in the works,” he insists. “I’m not sure how logistically it works in terms of scheduling, but yeah, I want it to happen.”
As for that other comic book property coming out later this year? A very vocal group of fans were upset at the appearance of Hal Jordan's "costume". Many did not like the living, energized look while others blasted the perceived unfinished CGI. Reynolds again took to the defense.
“It has to be virtual rather than spandex,” says Reynolds, wearing his grey sensor suit. “This is a suit from an alien planet.”
“It’s not The Dark Knight – I don’t put the suit on and my voice drops several octaves,” adds Reynolds, unfazed by the absence of green tights. “The suit is powered specifically on his will, his emotion, his creativity and his imagination. I love that.”
“Everything Hal creates are images from his childhood,” he goes on. “Or things fuelled specifically from his own mind.”
Lastly Empire asked him if there was any issues in playing both Green Lantern and Deadpool.
“Those two universes are completely different,” contends Reynolds. “Superhero movies are so pervasive in pop culture, I don’t look at the as superhero roles as much as just roles. They’re such different people. Deadpool is about a guy in a highly militarised shame spiral, Green Lantern is more universally themed.”

Nice pics Bryan, it's crazy how wildly different his hair looks in each
Definitely more brown for Hal.

Now that I see the two side by side, they do look very different from each other.
Also, as nice as it would be to see a Deadpool movie, I just don't think it will happen.

Ok, seriously stop asking him about Deadpool. He's not gonna star in a Deadpool movie. Ever. Plus, Fox will never do an R-rated Deadpool movie. Just let it go

yeah i dont think deadpool is gonna happen any time soon either...
i can also see the reasoning behind the CGI suit... i just wish they did a better job at creating it.

Look at Sinestro's, that one's incredible, I'm sure by the end of the movie, Hal will be wearing something equally as refined.

I was thinking the same thing. A real dramatic change there, and it worked out well.
