Producer Neal Mortiz Talks JACK THE GIANT KILLER, R.I.P.D., and 21 JUMP STREET
Published: January 12, 2011 - 6:29am
The in-demand producer, who is also one of the driving forces behind this month's The Green Hornet, recently shared more details about his upcoming slate of projects.

Bryan Singer's next film, Jack the Giant Killer, is a modern day fairy tale in which the long-standing peace between men and giants is threatened, as a young farmer leads an expedition into the giants' kingdom in hopes of rescuing a kidnapped princess. The film is scheduled to begin filming in London around March, and according to Moritz, there still isn't a cast but he later adds,

“It’s going great, we just got a new draft of the script that I’m gonna read this afternoon, which I’m very excited about, which we were working on some stuff in the third act. But I think it’s gonna be groundbreaking. I think that the visuals and pre-vis we’ve done on that are just like nothing you’ve ever seen. It’s humans vs. giants, it’s awesome.”
Moritz also talked about the upcoming R.I.P.D. film, confirming once again that Green Lantern star Ryan Reynolds is indeed attached and is expected to begin filming after the actor is done with his Green Lantern promotion this summer.
“We’re working with Robert Schwentke right now, he’s doing pre-vis, and we’re budgeting and we’re getting a new draft of the script and we’re doing a big presentation for the studio at the end of the month.”
For the upcoming 21 Jump Street remake starring Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum, the producer said that they start shooting April 18th in New Orleans, and that he's received a new draft of the script. Casting is still underway for the film having met with a number of actresses, but no lead has been announced.
Lastly, Moritz confirms that he is no longer involved with a producing sequels to xXx, I Am Legend, and the Marvel Comics character Luke Cage.
