All the Details of the Theatrical Trailer for X-MEN: FIRST CLASS

Exclusive: Fox has begun screening the trailer, which reveals plenty of scenes of the main cast with their powers, the storyline and the logo, to small audiences. Check out the detailed description, courtesy of one of our esteemed members, after the jump.

XMENFirstClassPoster20ByEditNinja.jpg

X-Men First Class charts the epic beginning of the X-Men saga, and reveals a secret history of famous global events. Before mutants had revealed themselves to the world, and before Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr took the names Professor X and Magneto, they were two young men discovering their powers for the first time. Not archenemies, they were instead at first the closest of friends, working together with other Mutants (some familiar, some new), to stop Armageddon. In the process, a grave rift between them opened, which began the eternal war between Magneto's Brotherhood and Professor X's X-Men.

The first thing our fellow site member would like to clear up is a rumor surrounding a recent logo supposedly linked to the film (the one found to the right). Though it may in some way be associated with the film or Fox, he stated that it did not look anything like the First Class logo used in the trailer. The logo shown was circular and silver, with a ring in it saying "Xavier and Lensherr Academy" and on the bottom inside it said "First Class."

PHjHX98msoIGms_1_m.jpg

- The trailer opens with the 20th Century Fox logo which pans up as the two spotlight beams cross and form a white "X" on the left of the screen. A white circle goes around the "X" forming the X-Men logo, as Magneto's helmet comes up on the right.

- Patrick Stewart and Ian Mckellan voice over the opening lines about destiny and which side will you stand for as scenes of each in their previous X-Men movie roles flash until the entire screen flashes from white to black.

- A very young Xavier and Erik meet for the first time, followed by a different angle of the scene from the opening of X-Men in the concentration camp.

- Camera pans outside of an old castle-style building that greatly resembles the X-mansion. McAvoy and Fassbender are seen walking through the halls. The words "One wanted peace" flash by Xavier.

- Scene transitions to Erik yelling dramatically as metal tables in the room begin to float around him. Xavier and Mags shake hands with a tall man in a lab coat introduced as Dr. McCoy.

- The words "The other was too far gone" flash as a very pissed off Erik storms through a hallway killing guards as he passes them.

- Cut scene to what appears to be a red Nightcrawler with swords taking out a room full of people; the close up reveals Azazel's face.

- The Hellfire Club stand next to Xavier on a bed as Emma goes into diamond form. Olver Platt and Kevin Bacon were next to Emma in black aristocratic clothes, with Emma wearing the exact same outfit from the Wolverine and the X-Men cartoon.

- Mystigue on a bed with her skin turning black; Beast is shown transforming, with his feet growing and toes webbing and fur growing.

- Havok shoots a red beam of energy -- looks almost exactly like cyclops's eye beam, but larger -- from his chest (SIDE NOTE: Havok's powers in comics have always had a blue energy, this change may be to relate his character to Cyclops).

- It then shows Beast all blue and furry (looking almost exactly like Kelsey Grammer in make-up) in the pilot seat of a crashing jet, followed by several rockets flying towards an island.

- Xavier's face goes all CGI and his head begins to go bald as he mentally pulls a large ship that was sinking out of the water, as well as some smaller boats around it (seems to allude to Xavier have telekinesis).

- Back to Xavier (with hair) telling Erik he only wanted peace for him, and he replies there was never a chance for anyone to have that.

- Final scene: Erik picks up a black helmet, then he is shown from behind wearing a black and red suit (no cape or coat though) and the helmet. Screen cuts to black and the X-Men: First Class logo shows up (the one described above), then the release date.

Unless the plan is changed, the trailer should be released to general audiences within the next four to six weeks.

Directed by Matthew Vaughn, the film stars James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Rose Byrne, Jones, Kevin Bacon, Nicholas Hoult, Jennifer Lawrence, Caleb Landry Jones, Lucas Till, Edi Gathegi, Jason Flemyng, Oliver Platt, Morgan Lily, Zoe Kravitz, Bill Bilner. It opens in theaters on June 3, 2011.

Pretty interesting sounding. Hard to visualize it without knowing these new actors Tongue. Thanks for the quick write-up! Big Grin

Great write-up! Sounds like the action may be good, but still very unsure about the film as a whole. I, for one, am glad this isn't a complete reboot. BTW, you channeled me when talking about Prof.'s telekinetic powers. Think he could have used that when Phoenix was disintegrating everyone in X3. Smile Ah well, good stuff Hamm!

Good job noting all the details! I'm curious and slightly more optimistic. The CGI and subplots are what I'm most concerned about.

From that, there shouldn't be a shadow of a doubt this is not by any means a reboot; but if does sound pretty good so far.

How was the tone, Chris?

Sounds like a cluster [frick] of [crap]. I really need to hear a run down of this plot, because so far I have heard nothing that resembles a plot worthy of taking up my time or money.

Yeah, part of this comment is just me hating on it cuz its a FOX film, but judging by this run down, it sounds a bit erratic and shallow.

By the way, nice write up. Any other details or opinions you want to share with us? Tone, look, etc? Does it look cheap? I always thought the X-Men movies actually looked like they were filmed on a studio lot and the costumes were terribly fake.

Amen brother. Fox gets no more of my money. Ever. I download everything now that has the word Fox associated with it. Paying for their films only encourages them to make more, and they longer they keep X-men, the longer we go without a Marvel-made X-film.

Sounds better than I expected it to be. When I see the footage, I'll at least have a better idea of where this film is going in terms of characterization, plot, and special effects.

Well before I saw this trailer, I was joining in on all the boycotts and fist ass comments and [frick] fox and after I saw the trailer, I DEFINITELY want to see this movie. Does that answer a question?

Also, My previous comment was meant to make me sound like a dick. I'm tired of my work being stolen as an attack to Pietro. The CBM guys aren't hurting Pietro when they do so, they are personally attacking ME

The shitstorm that became CBM.com is what drove me to this site. I like it. It even LOOKS better, more professional.

Hell, I don't even know what happened over there with you, Pietro. And I could care less. Those guys just keep perpetrating the stereotypes of comic fans. L

Keep it up, Pietro.

That was a good article. I can see why someone would steal it...

As for the movie itself.......... I dunno. Parts of it sound okay, other parts very NOT okay. My guess is that it will just be another X-Men movie. A thousand times better than Transformers, but still not up to par with Iron Man 1. Maybe my children will live to see the X-Men done justice on the big screen.

I remember hearing that vaughn said that he was taking inspiration from the recent star trek reboot, which led me to believe that possibly could pull some alternate time line crap to reboot the franchise.

It becomes more and more obvious that they're just pumping out a movie to keep the film rights to certain mutants (hence the odd selection of characters).

As long as FOX (or any entity other than Marvel that doesn't have they product's best interest in mind) has possession of these products, their intentions will not be pure. Nor can they ever be. Marvel really has to get these properties back to give them the justice that they truly require. IMO

i think the trailer sounds decent. my expectations are low to medium right now. they messed up Last Stand real bad but i thought Wolverine was a fun popcorn flick.

just wanted to toss out one correction about Havok -- the writer says his powers are blue in the comics, which isn't true. i'm sure they've been blue before... they've also been yellow, green, red, whatever. Havok's powers are defined by the shape, not the color. his energy comes out as circles, sometimes concentric, but often horizontally stacked. in fact, in the truest sense, his powers lack color, because in most depictions, everything turns to a white light around him when he's shooting his energy out of his hands. SORRY FOR THE MASSIVE GEEK OUT! Havok's just my favorite and i want to see the character done right and talked about right!!!
