DC's Green Lantern #59 premiered Wednesday. Inside is a full page introduction of Hector Hammond and Peter Sarsgaard's portrayal of him from Geoff Johns. It includes a brand new image as well from next Summer's movie

In GL #59, things get tougher for Hal Jordan as some of the teaser lines imply from DC Universe. The issue was written by Geoff Johns with art and cover by Doug Mahnke and Christian Alamy. There is also a 1:10 Variant cover by Gene Ha.

BRIGHTEST DAY blazes on as the New Guardians seeking the Indigo Entity are shocked to discover a sedated Black Hand. Can Hal Jordan trust the Indigo Tribe to house the herald of Nekron?

So much going on in this issue – and all of it makes it impossible to put down. Here’s a sampling: Hal Jordan on watch? The Flash and Green Lantern not seeing eye-to-eye? Oh, and did you really think you’d seen the last of him?

For movie fans, the biggest part of this issue is a full page exclusive look of Hector Hammond (Peter Sarsgaard) for Green Lantern coming out next year. Many thanks to user RodSVilaca for providing the scan and heads up on this. Along with a quick introduction to Hammond, producer Donald De Line talks about the intensity with which Peter Sarsgaard brought to the role and that "Hector Hammond has become a formidable and very real force for fear".

So by exclusive does he mean "plastered on the internet as soon as it comes out"? Good stuff.

No matter what anyone says about this...no matter what anyone says about Martin Campbell, Ryan Reynolds, even the Production team for what they consider "sub-par" CGI....NO ONE can deny the Perfection and Beauty of Peter Saarsgard and the Make-up department.I can literally Feel Hector's pain and the Fear/Hate that emanates from the infection of Parallax. He WILL top Heath Ledger's Joker next year.FACT.

I watched the trailer again and i LOVE IT!!

People who are complaining about Ryan Reynolds need to realize that the whole point of becoming a member of the GL Corps is to prove yourself worthy. The ring chooses you, but you must go through trials to hone your skills. You need to earn that emblem. Not sure if they will have the "White Circle" aspect to the learning process in the movie.

Sure Ryan Reynolds will start off being "Ryan Reynolds" but will learn to over come fear and become responsible for his power and ultimately become the Green Lantern. It's called a story ark. It would be pretty boring if he was just GL or Ryan Reynolds the whole time. It is great to see the serious side in the trailer. Even when Tom questions Hal's ability to be responsible, Hal doubts himself, but there is a glint of fear of this responsibility.

This movie looks really good and i can tell that Blake Lively's "performance" during the pants off scene is cut to high hell and is most likely not an accurate portrayal of her acting in the film.

I don't see much Van Wilder anyway. Reynold's Hal is much less jokey than RDJ's Stark. Sure, the lines are funny in third person, but the way he actually says them isn't topped with a smirk and a wink like RDJ. He's just being cocky and his expressions are almost always serious. The teaser trailer isn't nearly as comedic as some make it out to be. In fact, he's only smiling in the scene near the end when he shows off his costume. That's just about as much as Hector Hammond laughing.

It makes me want to take a needle to his head to drain some of the fluid.

I thought the response to the trailer (at least on this site) was mostly positive. Are people somewhere else berating it?

Geoff said it so well here.

And yeah, that makeup is very convincing! I wonder how much is solid prosthetic or it is a hollow shell?

I really hope that Hector Hammond does not get killed off. I really want to see him sitting in his chair with his super big head! Seeing it in all its glory would be a great stinger at the end.

I think Sarsgaard looks amazing.

I was watching the trailer again and noticed Amanda Waller standing in the hangar as Hector Hammond is lowering himself on the platform.
