X-MEN: FIRST CLASS Producer Bryan Singer Denies Rumored Wolverine Cameo

Producer Bryan Singer has squashed any rumor that Hugh Jackman will be doing a cameo in the upcoming X-Men: First Class film and talked about what to expect from Marvel's first Silver Age movie.

"He's not in the movie, he's in the Wolverine movies," said Singer when asked if Jackman was going to film a cameo for First Class.

The rumors of Jackman filming a scene(s) for First Class stem from a recent Facebook entry in which a cabdriver said he drove Jackman from the set of the film in Jekyll Island, Georgia, USA. A spokesperson for Fox debunked that rumor when he mentioned First Class was not yet shooting in that area.

Singer went on to reveal some of the story and where the movie's focus lies.

"It's about how Xavier - if you know X-Men universe - how Professor Xavier and Magneto kind of met and became friends and how that friendship turned into something else. It takes place in the early 60s and it incorporates some characters I was able to bring back in time that are familiar, as well as some new characters, new mutants.

Also, there's a new villain component, a really cool villain and villain group,

" said Singer.

He went on to say that the film will maintain the political aspects of the current trilogy and that those thematic elements will be even further elaborated upon for the prequel.

"We've set First Class in a time when the X-Men were conceived in the early 60s, up against political events that were happening - the early civil rights movement - and we have these kinds of events at a time when the world didn't know mutants existed," said Singer.

X-Men: First Class will detail the early years of Professor Charles Xavier (James McAvoy) and Magneto (Michael Fassbender) up until the events that led them to split apart and create both the X-Men and The Brotherhood. Jennifer Lawrence will play Mystique, January Jones as Emma Frost and Kevin Bacon will portray Sebastian Shaw. The film is scheduled for release June 3, 2011.

OK, This movie really isn't on my radar right now. Hope it turns out ok. Not having Wolverine is a good move in my book.

I agree man! I never even wanted Wolverine in this movie. I just hope this film will be good despite the story treading away from the source material.

I have a feeling this movie's going to be one of the furthest from the source material. Pity.

So, Bacon is for sure playing Shaw? Haven't been paying too much attention to this movie yet.

If they made it a musical, I might watch it.
