Much credit goes to director/screenwriter Christopher McGuarrie for doing justice to author Lee Child's popular vigilante in his first cinematic outing, Jack Reacher is one of the year's most hard-charging, intelligent and well executed movies. Tom Cruise delivers his best performance in years and Werner Herzog is absolute villainous perfection. It's stylish and thrilling and packs a fistful of wit, making it a movie worth watching over and over again.
