Only real problems I had with Green Lantern is the scene on the planet Oa were too short compare to things thats happening on Earth and not enough on Kilowog, Sinestro, Tomar-Ra and the other Lanterns. Other than that, damn good movie! Ryan Reynolds was awesome as Hellow..Freshersworld

I enjoyed it but it should have been way better. I expected them to knock it out of the park, not into the shitter.

I will translate the review what originally i have post in the blog what i wrote:

The main issue of the film is how we deal with fear, and in the acceptance of our weaknesses we become stronger. This make a great connection with the magazines that are being written for years by people like Geoff Johns and Peter Tomasi. Assume that we have no fear makes us weak, but if you give in to fear this destroy us from within. Having feelings is good because it helps to look at our choices without them turning over the slave it.

Sinestro do not believe when the GL Corps, together, can not defeat Parallax, and along with the complete omission of the Guardians, is created the first ring of yellow energy in an attempt to use fire against fire. Hector Hammond remains distant and alienated from everything and everyone, and not seek to fulfill their desires, such as revealing his love for Carol Ferris but is too passive to take action against what he doesn't liked . When Parallax infects him, all the inner hatred is exposed, as well as their new telepathic abilities. Hal, on the fear to be committed and hurt those who love him, keeps people away from it because of his arrogance, a shield of his personality what made nobody been involve with him. With the ring, he is forced to make choices that reconnects with people he loves and accept that he are afraid to stand in the shadows (and failures) of his father forever.

About Parallax, the scene of him attacking Coast City is wonderful, because it shows his main influence for the concept of the film (the smokescreen that has taken New York in September 11) and shows him as being of solid energy, which can be shared and expanded, and thus grounds for a piece of it (which works like a bacterium) causes damage, beyond even be able to track your energy. But not only the physical pain he is capable, but Parallax is like a devil talking in his ear, discouraging you, feeding your spirit weakness of mind. And also suggests that there may be several Parallaxes (that word exist ?) at the time that the a body is possessed by a yellow energy , maybe one day we will see Hal Jordan as Parallax too.

About the cast, I was surprised enough with Blake Lively, who was very expressionless in trailers and spots, but in the film is excellent as Carol Ferris, was tender and mature when it has to be. Sinestro is impeccable with Mark Strong, and Peter Saasgard even limited by the disadvantages from the movie which I will speak below, made a very good interpretation as Hector Hammond, being a stalker without self-love within the body of a genius.Ryan Reynolds it is a good choice as Hal Jordan.

Now the bad things of the film. Despite having been exaggerated by many, they exist in the film. The first is that the first act of the film is too rushed. He passes you the basic information about everyone but not the characters deepens as it should, and in the future when the extended version come out on Blu Ray, it seems there was room for it, and finally can show more of this part. Second, the plot of the Ferris Enterprise is solved by very high, it would be better to see Carol Ferris putting their hands on work, showing the real situation of the company.

The third and most aggravating fault is they have not embraced the strangeness about the project. You hardly see the aliens in the movie, you're not going to other planets, does not explore the space. And the movie was sold as a whirlwind of aliens, a space epic adventure, and none of which aliens appears in the film actually doing something, or interacting with Hal. Kilowog and Tomar-Re appears quickly when Jordan is trained and only return in the end the movie. I hope, if the sequence sees the daylight, to keep Hal Jordan in space, because that castrates much to the film's epic scale.

In the end, as we can define the Green Lantern movie? A good movie, bad, average? For me, despite having serious problems, it was a fun experience and an valid adaptation of the character that deserves a second chance on the big screen. Martin Campbell has done a good job, but we need somebody who understands and dip the next movie (if really comes) of the head in a sci-fi universe. I do not think it's better than First Class and Captain America, but still well above the result of Thor.

7.5/8.0 of 10.0

Only real problems I had with Green Lantern is the scene on the planet Oa were too short compare to things thats happening on Earth and not enough on Kilowog, Sinestro, Tomar-Ra and the other Lanterns. Other than that, damn good movie! Ryan Reynolds was awesome as Hal Jordan, Blake Lively did really well as Carol Ferris and man! Peter Sarsgaard as Hector Hammond steals the movie! I mean, a great performance from Peter!

It so not the worst superhero/comic book movie of all time! Green Lanterns is not worst than Batman & Robin, Daredevil, Electra, the two Fantastic Four films, Catwoman, and certainly NOT X-Men Origins: Wolverine! No sire! Hope a sequel will come but WB should take their time with the script and production and not rush it.

Pretty enjoyable! Despite reviews and a lot of people's reaction I really really liked it. Could it have been better? Sure. Could it have worse? You bet!! Can't wait for the blu-ray and hopefully sequel(s).

Incredibly enjoyable. Superbly fun. Deeply flawed. Worth a watch, but all in all a bad film.

As it progressed I too felt like it had been put into fast forward on a few things, condensed as IJ mentioned. I did enjoy it, it had some really good moments to it. The film will allow one's nostalgic ideals and feelings to run wild a little bit but it does fall short of being a first time block buster GL title.
