I enjoyed it but it should have been way better. I expected them to knock it out of the park, not into the shitter.

There are three different ways you can approach reviewing director David Fincher's The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo: comparing it to the Swedish made version, as an adaptation of the popular novel and as a standalone film. Though I found the later the most lacking, as a long time fan of the franchise I can say I was more than satisfied.
This film is not a replacement for the novel it was derived from, but a wonderful accompaniment. They compliment each other very well and fans of one will likely end up becoming fans of the other. To answer my own question whether it is a good film, yes it is; with touches of brilliance throughout.
